SoftTech Engineers Limited bags prestigious contract of INR 8.13 Crores from Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai for Development Software for BIM-based scrutiny of building models

SoftTech Engineers Limited, a software product innovation company which caters to the Architecture, Engineering and Construction (“AEC”) verticals has bagged the prestigious contract for “Development of Software Application for Auto Scrutiny of 3D BIM-based building models based on DCR 2014- 2034”.

The project will be completed under the guidance of Chief Engineer (Development Plan), Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai. The aim of this project is to eliminate the manual intervention and time required for approval of building proposals as per old and new development control regulations.

Currently, the building plan approvals are done based on 2D CAD drawings of building plans through SoftTech’s AutoDCR software. The new system will scrutinize 3D BIM (Building Information Modelling) models, through SoftTech BIMDCR software. MCGMS is in the process of releasing new DCR-2034 (Development Control Regulations). This new system will be able to check the building proposals for the new DCR 2034 as well as old DCR.

The BIMDCR software will be seamlessly integrated with SWC (Single Window Clearance) system running at MCGM for approval of building plans. SWC is a user-friendly online portal which allows the applicants to upload their building proposals along with necessary documents for verification and scrutiny. SWC facilitates NOCs from various internal and external departments of MCGM.

BIM (Building Information Technology) is a process involving the generation and management of digital representations of physical and functional characteristics of places. The advantages of BIM are the reduction in rework, improvement in productivity, reduction in conflicts & changes in construction and clash detection. BIM-based scrutiny will facilitate more precise information of MEP (Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing) objects in the building model for various approvals.
