Canara Robeco Asset Management Company Limited (CRAMC) is India’s second-oldest asset management company (AMC). Established in 1993 as Canbank Investment Management Services Limited to manage the assets of Canbank Mutual Fund, it was fully owned by Canara Bank until 2007, when Canara Bank entered into a strategic joint venture with ORIX Corporation Europe N.V. (OCE) — formerly Robeco Groep N.V. OCE (a wholly owned subsidiary of ORIX Corporation, Japan) acquired a 49% stake, while Canara Bank retained 51%.

This strong public sector bank legacy combined with global asset management expertise gives CRAMC a unique position in the Indian mutual fund industry.

Business Activities

1. Mutual Fund Management: CRAMC manages a diverse set of 25 mutual fund schemes (as of December 31, 2024), comprises of 12 Equity schemes, 10 Debt schemes and 3 Hybrid schemes

2. Investment Advisory: Provides investment advisory services on Indian equities to Robeco Hong Kong Limited (Robeco HK), part of its promoter group.

3. Core Strategy: Focuses on research-driven investing, combining robust fundamental analysis, risk-adjusted returns, and a disciplined asset allocation process across equity and debt categories.

Assets Under Management (AUM) & Growth

Growth: QAAUM grew at a CAGR of 34.75% (Mar 2022 – Mar 2024) compared to 18.8% industry CAGR (Source: CRISIL Report).

Market Share: Increased from 1.2% (Mar 2022)1.5% (Mar 2023)1.6% (Mar 2024 & Dec 2024).

As of December 2024, It is growing at a 38.98% CAGR to ₹798.11 bn, ranking 3rd in equity AUM among top 20 AMCs and highest among top 10. It also leads in B-30 city penetration, ranking 2nd among top 20 AMCs.

Product Portfolio

1. Equity-Oriented Schemes: Wide range of strategies: large & mid-cap fund, large-cap, flexi-cap, small-cap, mid-cap, multi-cap, focused fund, sectoral funds (consumer trends, infrastructure, manufacturing), aggressive hybrid, balanced advantage, value fund, and ELSS tax saver fund.

2. Debt-Oriented Schemes: It Includes overnight, banking & PSU debt, corporate bond, dynamic bond, gilt, low duration, medium-to-long duration, liquid, ultra-short duration, short duration, and conservative hybrid funds. 79.98% of the debt portfolio is invested in AAA/A1+ rated instruments.

Distribution Network & Reach

CRAMC has a pan-India presence with direct operations in 23 cities across 14 states and 2 union territories, supported by 23 branches and a strong multi-channel distribution network. It works with 49,412 partners, including Canara Bank & 44 other banks, 259 national distributors, and 49,108 mutual fund distributors. Leveraging Canara Bank’s 9,816 branches and 9,715 ATMs, along with its international offices, CRAMC also drives growth through digital onboarding, online services, and partnerships with investment platforms.

Satyanarayana Raju – Non-Executive Director & Chairman, since April 2023, holds a B.Sc. from Andhra University, an MBA in Banking & Finance from IGNOU, and is a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers. With 35+ years in banking, he was previously with Bank of Baroda and is currently MD & CEO of Canara Bank. 2. Rajnish Narula – Managing Director & CEO, since 2007, holds an MBA from Iona College, New York and has 40+ years of financial sector experience. He leads the Company’s strategic direction and earlier worked with Alliance Capital AMC and Standard Chartered Grindlays Bank. 3. Debashish Mukherjee – Non-Executive Director, since April 2018, holds degrees in Economics and Science and an MBA from the University of Calcutta. A Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers, he has 30+ years of banking experience, previously with United Bank of India, Canara Bank, and Punjab National Bank.
